Book Launch - නූතනත්වය, පශ්චාත් නූතනත්වය සහ නව සමාජ විද්‍යාත්මක න්‍යාය

Prominent Indian Sociologist, Professor S.L. Doshi’s ‘Modernity, Post-modernity and Neo-sociological Theories’ has been edited and translated into Sinhala by Premakumara de Silva and Abeyratne Attanayake as ‘nuthanathwaya, paschath nuthnathwaya and nava samaja vidyatmaka niyaya’ (නූතනත්වය, පශ්චාත් නූතනත්වය සහ නව සමාජ විද්‍යාත්මක න්‍යාය).  It was published by Fast Publishing (private) Limited – Colombo. The Book contains 16 chapters within 652 pages including a Sinhala-English glossary.

Inauguration Ceremony - MA in Sinhala 2017/2018

The Inauguration Ceremony of MA in Sinhala 2017/2018 was held on 11th March 2017 at the M. B. Ariyapala Auditorium of Department of Sinhala.
 
Professor Premakumara De Silva, Department of Sociology delivered the Key note speech. Emeritus Professors J. B. Dissanayake, Kusuma Karunarathne, Rohini Paranavithana and Professor Athula Ranasinghe - Dean, Faculty of Arts, Senior Lecturer Latha Gurusinghe - Head, Department of Sinhala, Professor Sandagomi Coparahewa - Coordinator, MA in Sinhala also attended the function.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

 


Inauguration Ceremony - Diploma in Sinhala 2017 / 2018

The inauguration ceremony of the Diploma in Sinhala programme, was held on 4th March 2017,  at the M. B. Certificate Course in Spoken Tamil - 2017 - (08th Batch)

The Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo entertains applications for the Certificate Course in Spoken Tamil (Short Course ) - 08th batch, up to 07th April 2017.
 
This course will be suitable to the personnel employed in public and private sector organizations, university students and school teachers who wish to improve their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Tamil and would like to communicate fluently in Tamil.  (No formal qualifications are necessary.)  Teaching will be based on the syllabus  relevant to the Official Languages Efficiency Bar Examination – Level III .

Economics Undergraduate wins the Best Research Paper Award at SAESM – Nepal.

13th South Asian Economic Students’ Meet (SAESM) which was held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 29th January to 3rd February, 2017 brought great glory to Sri Lanka and to the University of Colombo with the exceptional performance of young economists.
 
13th SAESM was very special for Sri Lanka and it stands amongst the best SAESMs for the country thus far for the very reason of a Sri Lankan winning the Best Research Paper Award for the first time in the history of SAESM. It was Naveen Wickremeratne, an undergraduate who studies at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts of University of Colombo.
