Dr. Maneesha Wanasinghe Pasqual visit to Kerala

Dr. Maneesha Wanasinghe Pasqual went to Kerala to meet the Head of Department and the staff of the Department of Political Science, University of Kerala. A generic MOU will be developed which would include staff-student exchange and a seminar, to be held in Colombo.

Professor Nayani Melegoda, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies participated 'Convocation Ceremony of Schwarzman College, Tsinguhua University

Professor Nayani Melegoda, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies was invited to the convocation ceremony of Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University held on September 10th 2016 for the first cohort of 110 Schwarzman Scholars hailing from all corners of the world. Chinese Vice - Premier Liu Yandong gave a speech at the ceremony.

Peace Workshop for Youth in Sri Lanka

Dept Of IR in collaboration with the international unit coordinated with the members of the IPYG (International Peace Youth Group) from South Korea. Their workshop was held on 20th July 10-12 and was on a South Korea peace organization's initiative to get UN to approve a resolution on peace & role of youth.

Professor Nayani Melegoda, Professor in International Relations, receiving  the status of “Honorary Citizen of Nebraska” from Nebraska (USA) Secretary of State, John A. Gale on June 10th 2016.

MAIR 2016 - 2017 Field Trip to Polonnaruwa

India - Sri Lanka Relations

The Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies (CCIS) of the University of Colombo launched the volume titled Anagarika Dharmapala and India – Sri Lanka Relations edited by Prof. Sandagomi Coperahewa, Director | CCIS on 11th February 2016 at 3.30 pm at the Senate Hall, College House, University of Colombo.

MAIR 2015/2016 Batch Research Workshop

MAIR 2015/2016 Batch Research Workshop was held at Jetwing Beach Hotel, Negombo on 19th December 2015. Research Workshop lead by the Professor Nayani Melegoda, Coordinator, MAIR Programe.

Senior Professor Amal Jayawardena guided MAIR students on “Research Proposal Writing” and Chaminda Padmakumara, PhD student from South Asian University, India also be a teaching assistant by sharing his experience on “Application of International Relations Theories for Research”

“60 Years of United Nations in Sri Lanka Dialogue”

The Department of International Relations organized a “60 Years of United Nations in Sri Lanka Dialogue” was held on December 14, 2015 to celebrate the membership of Sri Lanka in the United Nations. Sri Lanka joined the United Nations on December 14, 1955.
