Women's Day 2024 Celebration of United Nations in Collaboration with Faculty of Arts

The United Nations, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, celebrated International Women’s Day 2024 on the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ and with a theater performance, on 5th March 2024. The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor H. D. Karunaratne, Coordinator of UN Resident Programs, Mr. Marc-André Franche, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, as well as academics and representatives from UN agencies. The event was coordinated by the Youth Wellness Center of the Faculty of Arts. The audience consists of undergraduates from 1st to 4th years made positive interventions for the theater performance which was expected to promote ideas on the elimination of gender-based violence, and constructive relationships between student communities.
