The department has received approximately 30 applications for this program. At the moment, the department is in the process of interviewing applicants for\u00a0 candidacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h4><strong>Mobile Museum<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the funding of GIZ, plans are under way to establish a mobile museum within the premises of the UOC. The theme of this museum is the major political, social and economic transformations that took place in Sri Lanka from the period of the 13th century (the so-called collapse of the Rajarata civilization) to the present. Through this mobile museum, the UOC students and the general public can have an understanding of history which questions the traditional historiography of the said theme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h4><strong>Lecture-cum-publication project (Also to commemorate Prof. G.C Mendis and Prof. Lakshman Perera)\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The department will launch a lecture series in collaboration with incorporating internationally recognized historians who are working on Sri Lanka and a further engagement with these scholars will be conducted via interviews. By the end of 2021, the department will compile these lectures and interviews as a publication. These guest lectures and interviews address the historiographical and methodological perspectives of these scholars.
