The specific functions of the ERCSSH are as follows:
1. The ERCSSH will be established to review the research proposals submitted within the streams of social and human sciences and the main target group will be the staff and students of the Faculty of Arts/University of Colombo.
2. The ERCSSH will be responsible for the development, updating, and monitoring of the Faculty’s social research ethics review policy and procedures.
3. The ERCSSH will ensure dissemination of principles of best social research practices within the Faculty/ University.
4. The ERCSSH will extend its services to researchers outside the Faculty/ University when their proposals are within the scope of social sciences and humanities.
