Course description: 

This course aims to provide an elementary knowledge of the French language in the form of reading, writing, listening and speaking. It will also introduce the basic structures of the French language and everyday vocabulary in the context of common social situations. In addition to the language skills, which will be enhanced through a range of interactive and participatory activities such as role-plays, discussions and audio-visual activities, the participants will gain an insight into the cultures of France and the Francophone world. Thus, the topics covered would provide a context in which the participants develop their linguistic as well as cultural competence. The course is ideal for students who plan to enter careers in international relations, tourism, journalism, law, non-governmental organizations and international business.
