Annual Field Trip – 2018
The annual field trip of the Department of Political Science and Public Policy was to Embilitpitiya and took place from the 21st to the 23rd of November, 2018. The aim of the visit was to enable final year students of the department to acquire knowledge about the socio, political and economic aspects of agrarian colonization in the sample field. Prior to the visit, the students were trained on developing a questionnaire and conducting field research by Senior Lecturer, Dr. Pradeep Pieris. , Senior Lecturer, Mahesh Senanayaka and Dr. Pradeep Pieris, Lecturers, Crishni Silva, Sumith Chaminda, and junior staff members assisted the students with understanding each item in the questionnaire, clarified doubts and instructed them before sending them to the field.
Students got opportunity to observe and conduct Focus Group Discussion in the first time. Then, students were divided into 5 groups and were sent to the filed under the supervision of a lecturer. Students were given an opportunity to use research tools such as questionnaires and observation.
