Prof. Mayumi Yamada from Saitama University visited the Department of Political Science at the University of Colombo to explore the possibility of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities.
This collaboration aims to facilitate student and staff exchange programs, enhance research skills, and promote academic development. The Vice-Chancellor, Senior Prof. H.D. Karunarathna, expressed full support for the initiative and encouraged the department to expedite the finalization of the MoU.
‘Sustainable Development’
The Department of Political Science and Public Policy hosted a guest lecture on February 17, 2025, titled ‘Sustainable Development’ by Prof. Mayumi at the University of Saitama, Japan. In this lecture, she provided a comparative analysis of sustainable development, drawing from her own experiences in countries such as Nepal, Japan, Greece, and Sri Lanka .
