Seminar on Negative Attitudes towards Power Devolution

The Department of Political Science and Public Policy, in collaboration with the National Peace Council, organized a seminar on Negative Attitudes towards Power Devolution on 25 April 2026. The programme was conducted for undergraduate students following the Political Science Special Degree Programme.
The seminar aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the concept of power devolution in Sri Lanka and to critically examine the misconceptions and negative perceptions surrounding devolution. The discussions encouraged students to engage with contemporary political debates and constitutional issues.
The resource persons for the seminar were Mr. Mohamed Faslan, Department of Political Science and Public Policy, University of Colombo, and Dr. Nadeesha Silva, Open University of Sri Lanka. Around fifteen undergraduate students actively participated in the programme.
