Research Symposium on ‘Emerging Population Issues and Challenges’
The Department of Demography, Faculty of Arts, organized a Research Symposium under the theme of ‘Emerging Population Issues and Challenges’ on 17th of December, 2014. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Auditoriumof the Department of Economics, University of Colombo.
This Research Symposium was a great opportunity to academics and postgraduate students to demonstrate their research capabilities and to share their research findings. The keynote address of the Research Symposium was delivered by Mr. Alain Sibenaler, Country Representative of UNFPA. Papers were presented under five scientific sessions on the areas of Marriage and Fertility, Labour Force and Employment Issues, Reproductive Health, Internal and International Migration, and Population Ageing.
