MPhil and PhD Programme – 2025
The MPhil and PhD Programme 2025 offered by the Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Colombo, successfully completed three workshop series: Theravada Tradition: Belief and Practice, Research Methodology for Buddhist Studies, and English for Academic Purposes.
At the conclusion of the first semester, all candidates presented their research proposals on 13 and 14 June 2026 at the Department of Buddhist Studies. Professor Iresha Lakshman attended the event, conveyed her greetings, and commended several of the research proposals.
The proposal presentations were enriched by valuable comments and constructive feedback from Venerable Dr. Madihe Sugathasiri, Head of the Department, Venerable Senior Professor (Chair) Medawachchiye Dhammajothi, Emeritus Professor Asanga Tilakaratne, Venerable Senior Professor Medagoda Abhayatissa, Venerable Greek Gnanadassana, Venerable Professor Walmoruwe Piyarathana, Professor Wimal Hewamanage, Dr. Ravindu Priyanka, and Mr. Pulasthi Igalawitanage whose insights greatly assisted the candidates in refining their research proposals.
Professor Wimal Hewamanage, Coordinator of the Programme, together with the academic and administrative staff of the Department, actively contributed to the successful organization of the programme and the proposal presentation sessions.
