Closing Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Department of Demography
The Department of Demography, University of Colombo, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023 and the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebration was held on 18th December 2023 from 8.30 am to 11.00 pm at Room no 302, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. The ceremony was graced by Senior Professor H. D. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Mr. Kunley Adeni, Country Representative, UNFPA Sri Lanka. The ceremony was followed by the launch of the book titled “Population Dynamics in Sri Lanka: Issues and Challenges in the 21st Century”. In addition to the special invitees, Emeritus Professor K.A.P. Siddhisena, Emeritus Professor Indralal De Silva, Emeritus Professor Lakshman Dissanayake, Professor Manori K. Weeratunga, Head of the Department, Professor Sunethra Perera, Chair professor of the Department as well as other distinguished guests shared their thoughts and felicitated the department on its Golden Jubilee.
