Commencement of the Master of Arts in Demography – 2012/2013
The inauguration of Master of Arts in Demography – 2012/2013 was held on 01st February 2013, at the Seminar Room, Department of Demography, University of Colombo.
This M.A. programme in Demography provides an opportunity for further study in the field of population for persons who possess a sound academic background in Population Studies / Demography and work experience in the field of population or a related discipline. The programme is aimed to enhance the student’s knowledge and competence by way of specialization in the relevant techniques and undertaking research. The programme is by course work and research combined, which takes one year for completion on a full time basis. The course work will mainly focus on Advance Demographic Analysis, Social Research Methods and Readings on Population Studies. During the second semester a student shall work on the research proposal approved by the Department of Demography for the M.A. thesis.
