Celebration of the World Population Day – July 2016
The Population Association of Sri Lanka (PASL) together with Department of Demography of the University of Colombo is organizing an awareness programme to mark the World Population Day on 11th July. We have planned to celebrate the event on Friday the 08th July, 2016, with the aim of increasing the awareness on population issues, especially among the students.
The morning session from 9.00 a.m to 12.30 p.m, will be held at Ariyapala Auditorium, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. This event will include a guest lecture, on “Significance of the World Population Day” and the World Population Day theme for 2016, “Investing in Teenage Girls”. This will be followed by a Poster Exhibition of the students and a debate among students on current population issues.
The afternoon session will be a panel discussion on “Current Population Dynamics and Issues”

Professor Nimal Dangalle – Emeritus Professor, University of Kelaniya
Dr. A.J. Satharasinghe – Director General, Department of Census and Statistics
