INCOIRe 2022 – IR in a Shattered World
INCOIRe 2022 conference is the fourth edition of the international conference organized by the Department of International Relations on the 17th of December 2022 at the Senate Hall, College House of University of Colombo and at Faculty of Arts. This year’s conference was set on the theme ‘IR in a shattered world’ and it expanded over sub themes of 1) Diplomacy, Foreign Policy and Media 2) International Legal Regime and Actors 3) Security in COVID World Order 4) Peace and War in Interdependent World 5) Trans- Border Cooperation.
INCOIRe 2022 hosted Her Excellency Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Colombo as the Chief Guest and Senior Professor H. D Karunarathna, Chair, Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo as the Guest of Honour, and Ambassador, Former Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka Ravinath Ariyasinha as the Special Guest Speaker. The event was further graced by Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo and other distinguished guests.
Ambassador Tobing expressed her pleasure to attend a conference at University of Colombo for the first time during her tenure as the Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka and expounded on Indonesia- Sri Lanka relations. She expressed her aspiration to collaborate with the university in the future. A Special Guest Speech was delivered by Ambassador Ravinath Ariyasinha where he explained the praxis of Sri Lankan foreign policy focusing on the challenges and prospects.
Following the inauguration, the conference extended over five sessions chaired by Prof. Chaminda Padmakumara, Prof. Maneesha Wanasinghe-Pasqual, Dr. Ajith Balasooriya, Dr. Hasith Kandaudahewa, and Dr. Menik Wakkumbura.
