15th anniversary of the Department of International Relations

On July 29, 2025, the University of Colombo commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Department of International Relations and the 40th anniversary of the Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) at the Senate Hall. Honoring these important milestones, a book titled “Reflections on International Relations,” a collection of 19 academic articles, was launched. The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Karunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Lasantha Manawadu, along with well-wishers from the university, fellow sister universities, research institutes and think tanks, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. The program began with the lighting of the oil lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Pavithra Jayawardena, speeches from Professor Manawadu and Professor Karunathilake, and a special address by Professor Nayani Melegoda. Emeritus Professor Amal Jayawardane delivered the keynote address. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Professor Maneesha W. Pasqual, expressing gratitude to all attendees.
