GYG 1106 Principles of Geography

An inter-disciplinary subject in the context of social sciences, which provides a broader description of human and physical geography in terms of the stream of study (Geography and environmental Management).

GYG 2116 Geo Environmental Technique Statistical and cartography techniques. Those require simple mathematical knowledge among the students in order to apply them practically.
GYG 2118 Physical Environment of Landscape Physical geography of landscape, which will cover the vital role of geomorphological agents and impact of landscape, forming processes on human activities. Myriad aspects of the solid earth is the sculptured surface. It leads to study the origin of landscape by the undergraduates.
GYG 2133 Physical Environment of Sri Lanka Physical environment of Sri Lanka, which includes its spatial distribution patterns, variations and relationships among the different physical features of the environment.

GYG 2220 Biodiversity and Conservation Effects of biodiversity on basic ecosystem processes,examines the causes and consequence related to biodiversity and conservation of biodiversity.
GYG 2231 Meteorology and Climatology Knowledge on the earth’s atmospheric processes and systems. The course also emphasis on tropical and extra-tropical synoptic climatology, remote sensing, climate change and future scenarios on climate change.
GYG 2234 Development Perspective of Sri Lanka Understanding on development strategies, spatial variations, trends and their impact on environment, population, settlements, urbanization, agriculture, industry, service sector and Quaternary activities.
GYG 2236 Environmental Hazards Broader description of conceptual aspects, spatial distribution, process,effects and management activities on environmental hazards. Undergraduates will also gain a comprehensive knowledge in relation to the risk reduction measures.
