Visit from the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Science – 2018
The Department of Geography and the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Science have partnered for the range of activities which will be conducting in the future.
As the first step group of Scientists have visited the department and conducted a successful field excursion covering many parts of Sri Lanka starting from “Endiri Lena” Opanayaka to Calcite Caves at Pannila, Sinharaja Rainforest and Monaragala. Main purpose of this visit is to take tree ring samples and stalagmite samples in order to study the past climatic conditions of the tropical countries. The research team was led by professor Li Qiang along with Dr. Tan Liangcheng.
