‘Robarosiya Sandawa’ (රොබරෝසියා සැඳෑව) Entertainment programme – 30th Dec.

The third year undergraduates of the Department of Geography, University of Colombo organized an online entertainment programme – ‘Robarosiya Sandawa‘ (රොබරෝසියා සැඳෑව) which was held on 30^th December,2020 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Special Degree students of the 4th year, 2nd year and the staff participated as the audience via zoom platform. Robarosiya Sandawa’ was the theme of the event, which heals the stressfulness of academic work in a tough year.

The Dean, Faculty of Arts of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor Premakumara De Silva and Head of the Department, Senior professor Lasantha Manawadu graced the occasion and addressed the audience. The student made use of this novel opportunity to perform their aesthetic competencies. Excellent performances of students including announcing, singing, dancing and acting were maintained during the entire programme. The ‘Robarosiya Sandawa’ was an enjoyable evening full of great music and entertainment events that were intellectually stimulating. Audiences were engaged in the vibrant online performances as they witnessed exquisite and authentic interpretation of the pooja dance, Eastern and Western dance pieces, as well as enjoying classical Sri Lankan songs performed by skilled university students. The interactive performances of second year and fourth year students also add various colors to this online platform. The evening then turned into an experience sharing session for senior departmental academics who have participated in various academic endeavors. This programme is also an acknowledgment to the numerous talents of university students who have submerged themselves in the cross-cultural winds that blow.
