Sociology Annual Research Symposium
The Department of Sociology intends to organize an Annual Research Symposium to be held in March, 2021. The theme of the Symposium will be “Social Sciences and Humanities in the Digital Age and in Pandemic Times”. The primary objective of the research symposium is to acknowledge and recognize the high research output of our senior members, to encourage and facilitate the research projects of junior colleagues, and to foster a collaborative research culture within the department. With this objective in mind, the Symposium will be organized to; (1) Showcase the work of the staff and students of the Department of Sociology (current and former) and provide a platform for sharing colleagues’ work; (2) Provide a format for substantive and considered feedback on the papers presented so as to encourage high quality publications. While, as per standard practice, there will be an abstract review committee appointed to provide feedback on the abstracts, we also plan, this year, to have a panelist who will provide feedback on each of the papers on any panel. The symposium will be held over one day and will accommodate presentations in all three languages. Therefore, abstracts will be solicited in English and in the language in which the presentation is to be made.
