Certificate Awarding Ceremony – Certificate Course in Human Resource Management & Business Management (Batch III)

The Career Guidance Unit of the Faculty of Arts organized the Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Certificate Course in Human Resource Management and Business Management – Batch III on 18th September 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lecture Hall 233, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, attended as the Guest of Honour. Other distinguished invitees included Professor D. L. P. M. Rathnasingha, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, Dr. Rushan Abeygunawardana, Senior Student Counsellor, Dr. U. T. G. Perera, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Ms. Chalika Thangaraja, Senior Lecturer and Acting Co-Director of the Career Guidance Unit, Faculty of Arts, Mr. T. Sureshkaanth, Senior Assistant Registrar, Heads of Departments of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Academics and Lecturers of both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Management and Finance. The parents of the certificate recipients were also present at the event.

Certificates were awarded to 73 students from the third batch who successfully completed the 60-hour Certificate Course in Human Resource Management and Business Management, offered free of charge by the Career Guidance Unit of the Faculty of Arts.

The ceremony was enriched with a beautiful musical performance by the Faculty of Arts Music Circle, creating a graceful backdrop to the proceedings. The Vice Chancellor, along with other dignitaries, shared their views on the significance of such programmes, highlighting their value in enhancing the skills and employability of undergraduates of the Faculty of Arts.

Media coverage of the event was provided by the Digital Media Club of the Faculty of Arts. The success of the ceremony was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Acting Co-Director and working committee members of the Career Guidance Unit, together with Ms. Taniya De Alwis, Demonstrator of the Career Guidance Unit, Ms. T. H. R. De Silva, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Political Science and Public Policy and the executive committee members of the Career Guidance Unit, Faculty of Arts Students’ Club, whose valuable contributions ensured the smooth organization of the event.

Overall, the ceremony was vibrant, well-coordinated, and concluded successfully.
