CV CLINIC

The Career Guidance Unit (CGU), Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, successfully conducted a CV Clinic on 19 th February 2026 for the undergraduates of the Faculty of Arts. This programme, which was organized for the first time by the Unit as a concept of Dr. Shashini, was held in two sessions to accommodate the large number of interested participants and to ensure that each student received adequate individual attention.

The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Shashini Ranabahu, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, Faculty of Arts, with the coordination and support of Mr. M.N.M. Faslan, Ms. Wathsala Anuradhi, and the members of the CGU Working Committee. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth planning and successful execution of the programme.

The sessions were facilitated by experienced industry professionals who generously shared their expertise and practical knowledge. The resource persons included Ms. Vishmi Abhisheka Gunasekara, Human Resource Assistant Manager at Asian Institute of Business & Technology; Ms. Aruni Jayasekara, HR Assistant at Head Office of the Nation Trust Bank; Ms. Diyani Fernando, Head of Human Resources at Olanka Travels (Pvt) Ltd.; and Mr. H.A.M. Dhamruwan, Senior Research Manager at Survey Research Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Their professional insights added
significant value to the clinic.

Approximately 40 undergraduates participated in the CV Clinic. During the sessions, students received personalized, one-on-one feedback on their CVs, including guidance on structuring content, highlighting relevant skills and achievements, improving clarity and formatting, and aligning their CVs with industry expectations. The interactive nature of the programme allowed students to clarify their doubts and gain a clearer understanding of how to present themselves effectively to potential employers.

The CV Clinic was a highly successful initiative, and the feedback received from participants was extremely positive. Students expressed their appreciation for the practical guidance and the opportunity to receive direct input from HR professionals.
