Introducing “Angampora” to undergraduates – 10th Jan.
The Faculty of Arts has taken measures into introducing Sports Studies as a new subject stream to their undergraduates in 2018.
As the primary focus of this study stream includes the physical and mental wellbeing of the undergraduates (and our traditional methods of maintaining such wellbeing), it is planned to introduce the Sri Lankan traditional marshal art “Angampora” as a course unit.
The Dean – Faculty of Arts, Professor Athula Ranasinghe had a meeting with Mr Ajantha Mahantharachchi, the leading Angampora Guru in Sri Lanka on the 10th of January 2018 at the Dean’s office, Faculty of Arts. Dr Samantha Nanayakkara, the convener of Sports Studies, and the Director of Studies Dr Ajith Balasooriya were also participated in this meeting.
