Job-Winning CVs: Mastering the Art of ATS Optimization

The Career Guidance Unit of the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, conducted a virtual workshop titled “Job-Winning CVs: Mastering the Art of ATS Optimization” on 14 th February 2026 for undergraduates of the Faculty of Arts.

The session was facilitated by Senior Lecturer Mr. Saman Wanasinghe, who delivered an in- depth and practical presentation on effective CV writing. He provided comprehensive guidance on structuring a professional CV, selecting appropriate formats, organizing sections logically, and presenting information clearly and concisely. Special emphasis was placed on incorporating relevant keywords to ensure compatibility with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), as well as tailoring CVs to align with specific job descriptions and industry expectations. The workshop included sample CV reviews, real-world examples, and interactive activities to help students understand what to include and how to present their information clearly and professionally.

Approximately 50 undergraduates participated in this engaging and informative session. The programme was highly interactive and application-oriented, enabling students to gain hands-on experience and a clearer understanding of how to create competitive, industry-ready CVs. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A segment.

The organizing committee comprised Dr. Shashini Ranabahu, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, together with Mr. M.N.M. Faslan, Ms. Wathsala Anuradhi, and the members of the CGU Working Committee.
