20th Chinese Bridge Competition for Foreign University Students – 2021
The 20th Chinese Bridge: Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign University Students preliminary round in Sri Lanka was concluded successfully.
The competition was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, organized by the Confucius Institute of University of Kelaniya (CIUK), and co-organized by the Confucius Institute of the University of Colombo (CIUC) and the Confucius Classroom of University of Sabaragamuwa of Sri Lanka (CCUS). The theme of this contest is One World, One Family.
The preliminary contest consists of two parts: “Speech” and “Chinese Talent Performance”. Under the special circumstances of the COVID-19, this competition was conducted online. CIUC organized the preliminary contest on 8th June 2021 for candidates from University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya and University of Ruhuna, and selected 7 contestants to participate in the final round.
The awarding ceremony was held online on 2nd July with the participation of His Excellency Qi Zhenhong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of University of Kelaniya,Mr. Liu Dong, Cultural Counselor of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Prof. Wimal Hewamanage, Sri Lanka Director of the CIUC, and Prof. Ma Zhongwu, Chinese Director of the CIUC.
This competition is a bridge to demonstrate the enthusiasm of Sri Lankan students’ in learning Chinese and culture, adding a new luster to the cultural exchanges between China and Sri Lanka.
