The Journal of Colombo Geographer was officially launched on 13th February 2024.

The inaugural issue of the Journal of Colombo Geographer, published by the Department of
Geography, University of Colombo, was officially launched on 13th February 2024 at the
ceremony of the launch of academic journals of the Faculty of Arts. This significant event
brought together many esteemed figures including the Vice-Chancellor of the University of
Colombo, Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor
L. Manawadu, editors of the journals, authors, and other distinguished academic luminaries. The
journal's official launch involved presenting its printed copy to the Vice-Chancellor of the
University of Colombo, Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne.
Senior Professor Sirimal Abeyratne delivered an illuminating speech, providing valuable insights
into the content, significance, and future directions of the journals and setting the stage for
continued academic excellence.
Journal of Colombo Geographer is an open-access, double-blind, peer-reviewed journal
published by the Department of Geography, University of Colombo. This journal is dedicated to
publishing research papers produced based on geographic approaches from any sub-discipline of
Geography (human geography, physical geography, and geoinformatics) addressing
environmental/human problems with a spatial dimension.
