13th Annual Research Symposium on Sinhala Studies - Department of Sinhala | UoC

The 13th Annual Research Symposium on Sinhala Studies, organized by the Department of Sinhala, University of Colombo, took place on the 11th of September 2024 at 9:00 AM at the New Arts Theatre (NAT) with the presence of the Vice Chancellor Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne along with other invitees, scholars, and students. The technical sessions were held at the Faculty of Arts premises.

This year’s symposium focused on the theme of “South Asian Perspectives in Sinhala Language, Literature and Cultural Studies.” (සිංහල භාෂාව, සාහිත්‍යය හා සංස්කෘතික අධ්‍යයනයෙහි දකුණු ආසියානු පර්යාලෝකය). The keynote address was delivered by Professor Sasanka Perera, Former Professor of Sociology, University of Colombo & South Asian University, Delhi.

The annual symposium serves as a platform for students and scholars in the field of Sinhala studies to share their research findings with a broader audience. In conjunction with this event, a Book Exhibition was held on the Faculty of Arts premises from 10th & 11th September 2024.
