Commencement of Certificate Course in Human Resource Management & Business Management- Batch 03

The third batch of the Certificate Course in Human Resource Management and Business Management, initiated by the Career Guidance Unit, Faculty of Arts, commenced successfully on October 28, 2024. A total of 176 undergraduates from all four years within the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, were selected to follow this course.

This course is conducted under the guidance of Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, Dean, Faculty of Arts. Mr. Saman Wanasinghe, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Career Guidance Unit, Faculty of Arts consistently provides invaluable guidance, continuously enhancing the quality and impact of the course. The panel of lecturers includes Dr. Rajitha Silva and Ms. Shanika Senevirathna from the Faculty of Management, as well as Mr. Saman Wanasinghe, Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Language Teaching, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. Dr. Shashini Ranabahu, Co-Director of the Career Guidance Unit, welcomed the participants, and Dr. Rajitha Silva delivered the introductory lecture, providing an overview of Human Resource Management and Business Management.

This course is offered free of charge to the selected undergraduates. Spanning three months, it aims to provide students with foundational knowledge in Human Resource Management and Business Management, as well as practical skills, including interview techniques and CV writing, essential for HR professionals. Upon completion, the intended learning outcomes include understanding and localizing the basics of sourcing, developing, rewarding and retaining talent, managing operations and recognizing key strategies to address business management challenges.
