“Unstoppable You: Motivate with Dr. (Eng.) Ranil Sugathadasa” was a motivational guest lecture organized by the Career Guidance Unit of the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. The session was successfully conducted on 07th January 2026, from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m., with the participation of Dr. Shashini Ranabahu, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, Faculty of Arts, Mr. Kanishka Werawella, Member of the Working Committee, and approximately 150 undergraduates representing all academic years of the faculty. The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Director of the Career Guidance Unit.
The lecture was conducted by Dr. (Eng.) Ranil Sugathadasa, Senior Lecturer, Chartered Engineer, CEO Coach, Author, International Speaker, Motivator, and Mindset Strategist. During the session, he inspired students to identify their personal strengths and effectively utilize their knowledge, skills, and willingness to achieve success. Through powerful real-life examples, he emphasized that nothing is impossible when individuals are determined and confident in their abilities.
Furthermore, Dr. Sugathadasa highlighted the strength and value of Arts education, sharing examples of highly successful individuals who have pursued Arts degrees. His insights reinforced the importance of Arts subjects in developing creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability in today’s dynamic world.
The session was highly interactive, motivating, and inspiring, providing valuable guidance for students’ academic journey and future careers; undergraduates shared positive feedback, emphasizing the lecture’s inspiring and impactful nature.
