CEJ Journal Launch

The first issue of the Colombo Economic Journal (CEJ) published by the Department of Economics, the University of Colombo, was officially launched on 8th June 2023 at the Faculty Board Room, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, at a solemn event attended by Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor L. Manawadu, Heads of the Department and other academic invited dignitaries.

The Colombo Economic Journal is a bi-annually published peer-reviewed academic Journal that welcomes theoretical and empirical research articles covering a broad spectrum of topics in economics. The journal is a platform for academicians, consultants, policymakers, and business managers to publish their research work.

The event set off by paying tribute to the late Mr. Sarath Vidanagama, a former Head of the Department of Economics and Editor and Chief Editor of the Sri Lanka Economic Journal (SLEJ). The journal was officially launched by handing over its first copy to Vice-Chancellor, University of Colombo Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne by Editor-in-Chief, Professor S.P. Premaratne, with the participation of the journal committee members.

Head of the Department, Prof. Chandana Aluthge warmly welcomed all attendees and expressed his gratitude to the guests, faculty members, and participants for their presence and support. Following the official launch of the print and online versions of the journal, Senior Professor, Sirimal Abeyratne, conducted an insightful review of the journal, shedding light on its content, significance and the way forward.
