Faculty of Arts, Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament 2019 – 17th Dec.
The Faculty of Arts students following the Sports and Physical Activity course (ENH 2219) organized their annual Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament under the patronage of Senior Professor Premakumara de Silva, the Dean – Faculty of Arts. The tournament was held on the 17th of December 2019 from 8.00 am at the university grounds.
The main objectives of the tournament were to encourage students to actively take part in sports and to facilitate relationships among the departments and strengthen unity.
This year, the Faculty of Arts students promoted the concept of Eco-friendly sports in this tournament. Therefore, the department that follows the theme of eco-friendliness throughout the tournament by:
- Using non polythene cheering banners and decorations,
- Reducing garbage,
- Collection and proper disposal of trash during and after the event would be awarded a prize.
Use of plastic and polythene was strongly discouraged in the ground and surrounding premises.
