Special Lecture - 134th Birth Anniversary of Munidasa Cumaratunga

A special zoom lecture was held on 24th July 2021 (from 6.00 – 8.00 pm) to mark the 134th Birth Anniversary of Cumaratunga Munidasa. The lecture was delivered by Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa, Head, Department of Sinhala, University of Colombo.   The title of the lecture was ‘University of Ceylon and Cumaratunga Munidasa’.

It provided an evaluation of views expressed by Munidasa Cumaratunga on the teaching of Sinhala at the University College during the late 1930s and early 1940s. More than 150 participants attended this virtual session. This event also marked the release of Prof Coperahewa’s new book Cumaratunga Munidasa Adhyanaya( A Study of Cumaratunga Munidasa ).
