IGNITE FAIR’ 25 – FOA Undergraduates Sales Exhibition
IGNITE FAIR’ 25, is an Undergraduates’ Sales Exhibition organized by the Career Guidance Unit of Faculty of Arts in collaboration with Students’ Club of Career Guidance Unit. It was held on 18th of February 2025 from 09.00 a.m. to 04.00 p.m. with the participation of 18 entrepreneurs representing all years of the Arts faculty.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour at the event was Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu. Other distinguished guests included the Co- Director of the Career Guidance Unit of Faculty of Arts at the University of Colombo, Dr. Shashini Ranabahu, Heads of Departments of the Faculty, Senior Academics and lecturers of the faculty and university and the undergraduates attended the event.
The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Shashini Ranabahu, the Co-Director of Career Guidance Unit of the faculty. She pointed out the importance of students engaging in such entrepreneurial talents and this event provides young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to present their innovative business ideas, products, and services, allowing them to gain practical experience in the business world. Next, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in fostering self-employment, economic growth, and financial independence.
This event inspired students to think beyond traditional career paths, nurturing the next generation of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. They also developed confidence, leadership skills, and problem-solving abilities, which are essential for success in any career. The exhibition not only provided a space for students to show case their talent but also recognized the most popular entrepreneurs, selecting the most promising individuals based on their creativity, innovation, and popularity.
