Master of Environment & Regional Development (MERD)
The Department of Geography is calling for applications from qualified candidates for the Master of Environment and Regional Development, up to 20th May 2023.
This programme provides candidates with a comprehensive theoretical and practical background in the field of Environmental and Regional Development. Further, this programme provides an opportunity for candidates to follow a Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) Degree in Geography after the successful completion of the Master’s degree.
The main objective of this course focuses on broadening the base of education on Regional and Environmental Development by extending it to those who are already in the related sectors effectively and who are desirous of extending services.
Specially, this programme aims to;
- provide participants with comprehensive coverage of theory and practice in the field of Environmental and Regional Development,
- enable participants to investigate the various processes, techniques and methods involved in Environment and Regional Development and be able to evaluate their effectiveness.
- provide avenues or acceptable qualification and exposure for those who expect to follow MPhil or Ph.D. degree in Geography
Duration: One Year (Weekends Only)
Application Fee: LKR 2000/US$ 30
Course Fee: LKR 120,000.00/ US$ 2200 (Excluding Library fee LKR 1500/ US$ 25)
Target groups: Officers in public and private sectors, relevant civil organizations, graduate and postgraduate students of Universities and Institutions who are engaged in work related to Environment and Regional Development can apply.
