ABOUT US
The Youth Wellness Center (YWC) of the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, is established to provide a comprehensive package of services to undergraduates in the fields of nutritional health, psychosocial counseling, sexual and reproductive health information, products and services, referrals for prevention and response to gender-based violence, food security and any other related services for supporting wellness and continuity of quality education.
The Youth Wellness Center is currently partnered with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) through the MoU signed on the 20th December 2022 for its establishment. The Faculty of Arts also partnered with the country’s leading Community Based Organization; Sarvodaya for the initial services of the Centre.
The Centre is equipped with a number of projects including the Suposhi Milk Programme partnered with the MILCO and Sarvodaya; Suwatha Hygiene Wellness Project supported by the Capital Maharaja Group of Companies; “ප්රේමය නම්” movie series collaborated with the Charana TV.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, and a team of five academics – Mr. Dhamma Dissanayake, Dr. Menik Wakkumbura, Dr. Darshi Thoradeniya, Mr. Saman Wanasinghe, and Ms. Dharshini de Silva – provided unwavering support for the conceptualization of wellness initiatives and the establishment of the Youth Wellness Center at the Faculty.

By 2030, Center to be a hub for changing today’s undergraduates into physically and mentally competent graduates who are innovative, in demand for the service industry, and creative in handling local and global challenges.
